The Laniakea Foundation exists to preserve the story of Hawaii at a critical time in its history. A bold and successful king had passed away, naming a young and untried son to take his place. There was battle, and an end to battle, there were laws and a centuries -old religion, and an end to those ways.
There was the kingdom, and there was the world outside it. Into the ocean roads around the islands sailed the first of the people of that world: explorers, merchants, warriors. Some were good, some were greedy, some were true friends. All of them wanted something. Some wanted land and wealth, some the best future for the native inhabitants, and some wanted to turn the hearts of the native inhabitants to God .
